Glossary of terms
Cemetery - A place for burying the person who has died. Also called a graveyard.
Coffin - A special box in which the dead person's body is buried or cremated.
Cremation - The burning to ashes of a dead body.
Crematorium - The place where dead bodies are burned and made into ashes.
Funeral - A gathering held to say goodbye to the dead person before they are buried or cremated.
Funeral Director - A person who looks after the dead person and the funeral.
Funeral Home - A place where the person who has died lies in the coffin until the funeral. The place where a Funeral Director works.
Grave - A hole in the ground within a cemetery where a person is buried.
Headstone - A stone placed on the grave that has the name of the dead person on it.
Suicide - When a person decides they do not want to live anymore and takes their own life.
