Funeral directors are among Britain's best

The head of a Dewsbury firm of funeral directors has been included in a prestigious Who's Who book of Britain's most successful companies.

Eric F Box, this year celebrating 150 years in business, has an entry in the Who's Who of British Business Excellence 2003.

The accolade both surprised and delighted the family-run firm, based at Bradford Road and with a satellite office in Ossett. Director Richard Box, who runs the company with his sons Edward and Andrew, said of his inclusion:

"We were amazed when the book arrived. We had no idea anything was to appear."

"Someone who knows us has obviously put our name forward. It's a great honour to be mentioned alongside some of the country's foremost businesses."

Who's Who books are recognised for their accuracy and editorial independence. The book of British Business Excellence contains some 10,000 names from all walks of business life. A spokesman for the company said: "The individuals selected have been chosen as directors and senior figures of the fastest growing companies of 2002."
